Attention: Before mounting the camera, be sure to use the SkyEye2 software to acquire

a dark frame as it will be much more difficult to do so after the camera has been mounted!

  1. Install the SkyEye software by double clicking the 'SkyEye2 Setup' icon and following the prompts to install the driver and any other needed files.
  2. When the program launches for the first time, a folder dialog will appear, requesting the desired location to save images and folders in. Due to certain limitations, the folder must reside on the PC that the SkyEye2 software installed on (i.e. no network locations are allowed).
  3. Choose a placeholder image for displaying at times when the camera is idle. (optional) .
  4. Choose an Operation Mode. Normally, this would be the "Nighttime Only (Sentinel mode)".
  5. Set the Dusk/ Dawn settings by clicking the 'Fetch' button in the Dusk/Dawn Settings group box. Click the 'Use DST' check box as needed.
  6. If you would like to upload your images and videos to a web site, fill in the fields in the FTP settings fields and click the connect button to open an FTP browser dialog.
  7. Connect the camera with a USB cable and then use the 'Capture Device' drop down to select the camera named 'DFM 37UX178-ML'
  8. Use the Frame Size drop down to select the appropriate frame size which is '3072x 2048'
  9. Click the Connect button.
  10. After a few seconds, a live video image should appear in the 'Preview Window'.
  11. Take a dark frame. Cover the camera completely so that no ambient light can reach the camera lens and then click the 'Create Dark Frame' button on the 'Program Settings' dialog
  12. It is now okay to mount the camera. Try to mount the camera in an area that is clear of buildings and trees and away from any sources of outside lighting.
