The SkyRoof Alpaca system was developed a few years ago and since it was developed, several changes have been made within the ASCOM platform.


 Although SkyRoof works fine on the newer versions of ASCOM, there are a couple of differences that should be noted.


1.) Later version of the ASCOM platform have the ASCOM server/client programs already installed.

2.) Later versions of the ASCOM Alpaca schema have a built in "Discovery" scheme, which SkyRoof does not support (it is not really necessary)

If you find that when selecting the ASCOM driver "Chooser" that there is an option tab named "Alpaca" as shown below, do not attempt to "Discover the device".

Instead, choose the "Create Alpaca Driver" option from the drop down list.

You can name the driver anything you like. Continue installing the new driver as per the earlier instructions.
